About this event
Fear 2000 is a conference series dedicated to horror media in the twenty-first century, hosted by Sheffield Hallam University and supported by the Centre of Culture, Media and Society and the Department of Media Arts and Communication.
This year’s conference, Fear 2000: Horror Undying, will make connections between contemporary horror and the genre’s past. It will take place online via Zoom over three days from 1-3 July 2022.

This event features an eclectic range of talks presented by 60 speakers in 10 countries, four keynote lectures by leading horror scholars, and special guests including:
- Joe Dante, director of Gremlins, Piranha and The Howling
- Danishka Esterhazy, director of Slumber Party Massacre
- Suzanne Keilly, writer of Slumber Party Massacre
- April Wolfe, writer of Black Christmas
